Renie and Smucci Team Up to Tackle Vape Waste

30-July-2024

E-cigarettes and vapes have become commonplace in our lives. However, the issue of disposing of these devices is increasingly concerning. To tackle this challenge, we've teamed up with Smucci to introduce a solution for vape recycling.

Renie and Smucci are united by a shared mission of promoting sustainability. Together, we have developed the Renie Mini, a bin specifically designed for collecting vapes and e-cigarettes. This collaboration combines Smucci's expertise in the industry with Renie&'s waste management solutions to ensure that vapes are disposed of safely.

Based on Smucci's wide range of vape models, we trained a computer vision AI model to recognize vapes. The Renie Mini bins, IoT-connected to this AI and to the Renie App, provide a seamless way for users to dispose of their vapes and receive rewards. Users simply need to capture a photo of their vape, triggering the bin to open automatically. Once the Renie Software confirms the type of waste deposited, currency is credited to the user's account, which can be redeemed for hundreds of prizes on the Renie App.

Eden Newton, CEO of Smucci, commented, "We are thrilled to announce our exclusive collaboration with Renie. This partnership marks a significant milestone in our commitment to fostering a cleaner, greener world. By launching this groundbreaking initiative to recycle vapes, we aim to ensure full transparency on the life cycle of each vape and significantly reduce pollution, making Dubai the first city globally with a comprehensive recycling program for vapes."

Sander Van Waes, CEO of Renie, added, "At Renie, we are dedicated to continuous innovation in sustainability technology. We are committed to creating sustainable solutions that benefit everyone through the value of data. By making recycling accessible and rewarding, we aim to inspire a mindset shift and show a global example in sustainable practices."

Businesses can easily incorporate these bins into their premises, offering customers an environmentally responsible method to recycle their e-waste. This initiative not only benefits the environment but also elevates the overall customer experience.

This initiative will officially launch on September 14, 2024 where we aim to place thousands of Renie Mini bins. Mark your calendars and join us in this transformative journey towards a cleaner, greener future.
